ABOUT ABOUT

Very excited to be hosting our 1st Burns Supper at The Barn of Harper's Ferry WV. The Scots and Irish settlers would be proud to know we have this great revival of Heritage going on right here in beautiful historic Harper's ferry:

Scottish Poet Robbie Burns birthday is celebrated all over the world, Burns a man of many words and great wit, was a poet and song writer.  As well as making original compositions, Burns also collected folk songs from across Scotland, often revising or adapting them. His poem (and song) "Auld Lang Syne" is often sung at Hogmanay (the last day of the year), and "Scots Wha Hae" served for a long time as an unofficial national anthem of the country. Other poems and songs of Burns that remain well known across the world today include "A Red, Red Rose", "A Man's a Man for A' That", "To a Louse", "To a Mouse", "The Battle of Sherramuir", "Tam o' Shanter" and "Ae Fond Kiss".  His birthday was celebrated in his native Scotland with many friends, drinks and food, his choice of supper on the night was the  Scottish national dish Haggis which he had served with neeps and tatties { turnips and mashed potato} We will be offering a the Burns supper with two choices of starters through desserts. When you purchase your ticket, we will ask that you make your dinner choice then. This is going to be a lovely evening of traditional food, great entertainment, in the beautiful setting of The Barn of Harper's Ferry, a full bar with great cocktails, craft beers and Yes good Scottish whisky.

http://www.seamuskennedy.com

A four-decade veteran of the Irish/Celtic festival circuit, Seamus Kennedy was first influenced by the legendary Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. From them he learned the importance of not only being a solid musician, but also of being an all-round entertainer.

With a thorough knowledge of the traditional and contemporary songs of Ireland and Scotland, he is equally proficient with American music, be it folk, country, bluegrass or a little Western Swing.. And he is rarely seen on stage without his Kilt.

Originally from Belfast Ireland, but now based in Annapolis, MD, he has been entertaining audiences all over the United States from Alaska to Florida, from Maryland to California for more than four decades. At home in venues ranging from intimate house-concerts and folk-clubs to large concert halls and festivals, Seamus has been bringing tour groups to Ireland for 30 years to experience the music and culture of his homeland “up close and personal”.

“A master showman with an unmatched repertoire; a maestro among Irish troubadours.” ~ Irish Fest, Milwaukee

An accomplished guitarist with a ready wit and a vast store of songs, he travels the country making folks laugh, sing and forget their cares for a while. Kennedy’s ability to combine a total command of the music with humor makes him unique in the industry. His strong interactive entertainment skills and his participation with the audience have helped him create an exceptionally loyal fan base everywhere he goes.
